SUMMARY:CFEM and UBS AI & Data Research Seminar: Mike Lipkin (Katama Tradi
 ng)
DESCRIPTION:Register Now\n\nPrecipitating Events\, Equilibrium\, and Earni
ngs Announcements\n\nThe natural world is replete with structures charact
eristic of long-term steady states\, yet far from equilibrium. The man-ma
de world\, as well. And even the prices of financial instruments exhibit
the same far-from equilibrium long-term steady states. Often a precipitat
ing event is needed to kick the system toward equilibrium and reset a “cl
ock”\, so to speak. In this talk we will present several examples and the
n concentrate on the quarterly earnings announcements. We show that the e
arnings event resets the clock\, briefly restoring equilibrium pricing. T
his is work with Arjun K. M. and Leon Tatevossian.\n\nBio: Mike Lipkin ha
s 35+ years of experience as an option market-maker\, trader\, and theori
st. He has written many papers on pricing and stock dynamics with experti
se in event-driven finance. He taught event-driven finance for 11 years a
t Columbia and four years at NYU Tandon.\n\nhttp://next-to-u.app/events/0
