 the key to fulfillment as characters on Earth rival for affection. A farc
 e and spectacle of a love story by Restoration playwright Aphra Behn\, ed
 ited by KU doctoral student Gillian Genardo\, The Emperor of the Moon is 
 a play based on Italian commedia dell’arte with scenography taking inspir
 ation from midcentury modern architecture and futuristic aesthetic (à la 
 The Jetsons). It’s science fiction meets comic socioeconomic commentary w
 ith delightful winks to the audience.\n\nA display will be available in t
 he exhibition hallway leading to the theatre for those interested in lear
 ning more about Aphra Behn and the history of women writers in the scienc
 e fiction genre. Patrons can also attend a pre-show talk with Jane Barnet
 te\, head of dramaturgy and professor in theatre & dance\, Misty Schieber
 le\, and Sarah Van der Laan\, professors in English\, at 6 p.m. in Murphy
  Hall\, Room 341 prior to the November 4 performance. The talk will be mo
 derated by Cecelia Hart\, the play’s dramaturg and doctoral student in li
 terature. A Q&A with the director and performers will follow that same pe
 rformance in the Inge Theatre.\n\nTickets are available in person at the
