SUMMARY:WiE Take Your Seat at the Table Speaker Series: Kiara Williams
LOCATION:Zeanah Engineering Complex 423\, 863 Neyland Drive\, Knoxville TN
  37996
DESCRIPTION:What does it feel like to be the youngest person at the table?
Sometimes getting a seat at the table is only the beginning. When you’re
surrounded by people with more experience\, more years of life\, more ye
ars in the field\, or more confidence\, it can be easy to question whethe
r you really belong there.\n\nIn this workshop\, I’ll share lessons from
my own experiences being the youngest person in the room and what I’ve le
arned about navigating self-doubt\, building confidence\, and finding peo
ple who supported my personal and professional growth. We’ll also talk ab
out being open to coaching and feedback\, why allies are so important\, a
nd how your leadership style will continue to change as you grow. Most im
portantly\, we’ll talk about something I wish more young leaders heard yo
u are allowed to grow while you lead. The person you are in your 20s does
n’t have to be the person you become\, and that’s not a weakness. That’s
part of the process.\n\nThis session is open to undergraduate and graduat
e engineering students. RSVP here by November 10th.\n\nAbout the Speaker\
 n\nI’m Kiara M. Williams\, M.Ed.\, an educator\, leader\, and learner\, a
nd I’ve spent a surprising amount of my career being the youngest person
at the table. I’m excited to share some of my story with you and talk abo
ut what it really looks like to grow into the person you’re becoming.\n\n
