DESCRIPTION:College of Social Work students are invited to the November Vi
 rtual Coffee Chat focusing on "Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocess
 ing (EMDR)" with guest speaker and CSW alumna Laura Summerlin\, LCSW (MSW
  '10) on Friday\, November 13\, from 12:00 to 1:00 pm (ET). EMDR is an ev
 idence-based therapy approach that helps individuals process and heal fro
 m distressing or traumatic experiences. During the chat\, attendees have 
 the opportunity to learn more about what EMDR is\, how it works and how i
 t can be used in clinical practice. Attendees will also learn more about 
 Laura's career journey. Registration is required.\n\nRegister for the vir
 tual coffee chat.\n\nPresenter:\nLaura Summerlin\, LCSW graduated from Fl
 orida State University's College of Social Work in 2010. She spent 5 1/2 
 years working in an intensive outpatient program designed to help adolesc
 ents and their parents manage substance misuse and behavioral issues. Thi
 s was a valuable and rich training ground as she was able to do therapy w
 ith groups\, families\, and individuals that came with varying background
 s\, stories\, and pain. She went into private practice in 2015 and began 
 focusing her work on the "story" that lies underneath the uncomfortable s
 ymptoms that many of us show up to therapy wanting to address. This led t
 o her being trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessin
 g) in 2018 and eventually certified in 2019. This particular type of ther
 apy has been shown to be highly effective in helping individuals p\n\nhtt
