SUMMARY:Sustainability Series: ACKROYD & HARVEY: THE ART OF ACTIVISM
LOCATION:Athena Cinema\, 20 South Court Street\, Athens\, Ohio 45701
DESCRIPTION:Sustainability Film Series concludes with an award-winning doc
umentary about two artists whose work bridges the gap between expression
and environmental activism!\n\nAdmission is FREE – Tickets are required\n
\nAbout the film\n\nAckroyd & Harvey: The Art of Activism is the latest f
ilm from award-winning documentary maker Fiona Cunningham-Reid. An intima
te portrait of internationally acclaimed artists\, Heather Ackroyd and Da
n Harvey\, who work at the intersection of art\, activism\, biology and e
cology\, and their quest to shake humanity into action on climate catastr
ophe – whatever the personal cost.\n\nIntrinsically bound up in protest\,
the film follows the pair collaborating with Extinction Rebellion\, and
co-founding the movement\, Culture Declares Emergency. Their work is unco
mpromisingly preoccupied with the climate and ecological crisis\, and has
become a rallying point for the environmental movement. It’s won them in
ternational acclaim\, but the film leaves us in no doubt – they’d be crea
ting it whether the world was watching or not.\n\nhttp://next-to-u.app/ev
