SUMMARY:Wang Lecture: Biophysics and Modeling Approaches for Development o
f Effective Downstream Bioprocesses of Complex Biological Products
LOCATION:Building 66 110\, 25 AMES ST\, Cambridge\, MA 02139
DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Steven M. Cramer\, Institute Professor\, Rensselaer P
olytechnic Institute\n\nSteve Cramer is an Institute Professor at Renssel
aer Polytechnic Institute. His laboratory develops models\, materials\, a
nd processes to make downstream bioprocessing more effective for the puri
fication of biological products. He is a member of the National Academy o
f Engineering\, UT Austin’s Academy of Distinguished Chemical Engineers a
nd an elected fellow of AAAS\, AIChE\, ACS and AIMBE. He has won numerous
awards\, including the Gordon Prize from the NAE\, the ACS Separations S
 cience and Technology Award\, the BIOT Division’s Michael’s Award\, the G
aden Award from Biotechnology and Bioengineering\, the Wiley Distinguishe
d Faculty Award and the School of Engineering Outstanding Professor and R
esearch Excellence Awards from RPI. His inventions and models have been e
mployed by numerous companies and he is active on industrial scientific a
dvisory boards. The 65 PhD graduates from the Cramer lab have had a signi
ficant impact\, with many former students now playing key leadership role
s in the state of the art of industrial bioprocessing at major biopharmac
eutical and bioseparations companies worldwide as well as in academia.\n\
