SUMMARY:Physical Chemistry Seminar: James Gaynor | Northwestern University
LOCATION:JILA Auditorium\, 1900 Colorado Avenue\, Boulder\, CO 80309
DESCRIPTION:Title: Correlating Ultrafast Vibronic Dynamics with Spin\, Cha
rge\, and Ions\n\nAbstract: Nonequilibrium dynamics in molecules and mate
rials often involve many different degrees of freedom that influence the
evolution of photochemical and photophysical processes. These degrees of
freedom invariably include electronic and vibrational motions\, and in ma
ny systems with relevance to quantum information science\, the electron s
pin degree of freedom is an additionally sought after parameter. In this
talk\, I will describe my research group’s recent efforts to understand t
he interplay between vibronic dynamics and spin – or spin-vibronic dynami
cs – in photomagnetic systems and in a new series of chiral molecular com
plexes. In addition\, I will briefly discuss the complex interplay of vib
ronic dynamics and ions in organic mixed ionic-electronic conductors usin
g spectro-electrochemistry interfaced with our ultrafast coherent multidi
 mensional spectroscopic experiments.\n\nhttp://next-to-u.app/events/38250
