SUMMARY:Neuroscience First Year Presentation: Jeffy Jackson
LOCATION:Natural Science and Engineering Research Lab (RL) 3.204\, 800 W.
 Campbell Road\, Richardson\, Texas 75080-3021
DESCRIPTION:Please join us\n\nTuesday\, November 24\, 2026\n\n4:30pm – 5:0
 0pm CST\n\nNSERL 3.204\n\nfor a First Year Presentation by\n\nJeffy Jacks
on\n\nUniversity of Texas at Dallas\n\nChemogenetic Activation of Ventral
Tegmental Area Dopamine Neurons\n\nRescues Adversity-Induced Maternal Mo
tivation Deficits.\n\nMaternal behavior relies on mesolimbic dopamine sig
naling to assign reinforcing value to infant cues and drive motivated car
egiving behaviors\, but environmental adversity can disrupt these process
es. Using a rodent model of postpartum scarcity-adversity\, I aimed to un
derstand the functional relevance of VTA DA neuron activity and its relat
ion to impairments in motivated maternal behavior during adaptive (contro
 l) and maladaptive (scarcity-adversity) conditions through bidirectional
chemogenetic manipulations. My findings suggest that chemogenetic activat
ion of VTA dopamine neurons rescues adversity-induced impairments in pup
retrieval\, supporting a causal role for VTA dopamine signaling in motiva
ted maternal behavior.\n\nIf you are unable to attend in person\, a Teams
