DESCRIPTION:The event that we are requesting funding for is a lecture and 
 workshop with the nationally recognized artist Julia Turner. Julia is an 
 artist and educator who currently runs her own independent jewelry busine
 ss in San Francisco California. In addition to being a successful entrepr
 eneur\, Turner has also participated in numerous major residencies and sy
 mposia across the US and abroad including being the invited artist at the
  27th Turnov International Jewelry Symposium in the Czech Republic.\n\nJu
 lia’s lecture and workshop will be focused on her artistic journey and th
 e development of her jewelry business. She will discuss everything from t
 he realities of running a successful small business to maintaining passio
 n and creativity while meeting market demand. Our primary audience for th
 is lecture and workshop is primarily students across disciplines in the s
 chool of art and design\, with a special focus on students in jewelry and
  metalwork\, furniture design\, and graphic design. Beyond this set of st
 udents\, Julia’s expertise will also appeal to students from other areas\
 , such as business and marketing. As an established working artist\, Juli
 a will be able to provide important insights for students from all backgr
 ounds into what a successful career in a creative field can look like. Ju
 lia will also be providing instruction in areas not covered in our course
 work. Her workshop will focus on creative production strategies for repea
