SUMMARY:Why Sing Hymns? Exploring the Retuned Hymn Movement
LOCATION:Gabart Chapel in The Janet Ayers Academic Center
DESCRIPTION:This is a **Cultural WellCore** event hosted by Belmont RUF.\n
\nIn the late 1990s\, there arose a movement that in many ways was a reac
tion to the “seeker-sensitive” worship model that prevailed in many evang
elical churches. The movement originated in RUF groups on college campuse
s\, mostly in the Southeast\, and the Belmont group became most influenti
al when it released the first Indelible Grace project in 2000. They have
 since released 12 projects\, including a documentary film of their 2010 c
oncert at the historic Ryman Auditorium. At this event\, we will sing man
y of the retuned hymns that emerged from this movement\, and Kevin Twit (
RUF Campus Minister and founder of Indelible Grace Music) will share the
stories behind the hymns and explore why students have resonated with thi
s movement.\n\nRev. Kevin Twit is a member of the Hymn Society and will b
e teaching the Hymnology course at Belmont in the Spring of 2027.\n\nhttp
