 e.\n\nTitle: Reflections on a Career at the Intersection of AI and Medici
 ne\n\nAbstract: In this talk\, I will summarize my research at the inters
 ection of AI and medicine/biomedicine\, highlighting the motivations\, ke
 y results\, and insights\, and suggesting promising directions for future
  research. I will also reflect on lessons learned along the way.\n\nBiosk
 etch: Gregory Cooper\, M.D.\, Ph.D.\, is Distinguished Professor Emeritus
  of Biomedical Informatics at the University of Pittsburgh. He was an act
 ive faculty member in the Intelligent Systems Program for 35 years and se
 rved for several years as its Co-Director. He received a B.S. in Computer
  Science from MIT and a Ph.D. in Medical Information Sciences and an M.D.
  from Stanford University.\n\nHis research develops and applies new metho
 ds in causal modeling\, Bayesian statistics\, machine learning\, and arti
 ficial intelligence with the goal of improving clinical care and advancin
 g biomedical discovery. His recent projects have investigated treatment o
 utcome prediction using data from randomized clinical trials and electron
 ic health records (EHRs)\, infectious disease outbreak detection and char
 acterization\, individualized cancer therapy recommendation\, and machine
