SUMMARY:Voices of XR: Brendan David-John
LOCATION:Carlson Science and Engineering Library Studio X (First Floor)\,
 160 Trustee Rd\, Rochester\, NY 14642
DESCRIPTION:The Hidden Risks of Immersion: Privacy and Security in XR\n\nV
irtual\, augmented\, and mixed reality (XR) devices are becoming increasi
ngly ubiquitous and support applications in entertainment\, productivity\
, and training. With the availability of these devices also comes an incr
eased risk to privacy through the capture and use of data from integrated
sensors necessary to support these applications. Additionally\, the uniq
ue design of XR systems introduces new security vulnerabilities capable o
f exposing this sensor data. This talk will focus on the multidisciplinar
y nature of studying privacy and security for XR systems and discuss tech
nical and human-centered risks along with mitigations in this emerging fi
 eld.\n\nTo register: https://libcal.lib.rochester.edu/event/17887519\n\nh
