 ’Oca)
LOCATION:Gensler Family AAP NYC Center
DESCRIPTION:Interboro Partners is an architecture\, urban design\, and pla
nning practice focused on public projects for the public good. The firm w
as established in 2002 by Tobias Armborst\, Daniel D’Oca\, and Georgeen T
heodore\, FAIA. Based in Brooklyn\, the practice began with a series of w
ins of international design competitions — in which they focused on place
 s that faced challenges (dead malls\, shrinking cities\, and inner-ring s
uburbs) — and by building a series of groundbreaking temporary public spa
ce projects. Today\, Interboro works for and with cities and communities
on everything from small public spaces to regional plans.\n\nThe practice
has earned accolades for representing “an ever-expanding concept of what
architecture is\, of how it acts on the world\, but also how it is acted
  upon by individuals\, institutions\, ideas\, idealizations\, and objects
 .” Award-winning projects include LentSpace\, a temporary sculpture park
in lower Manhattan\; Made in Midtown\, a project with the Design Trust fo
r Public Space researching Manhattan’s garment district\; The Arsenal of
 Exclusion/Inclusion\, a “dictionary” of policies\, institutions\, and phe
nomena that foster and restrict access to the built environment produced
for the 2009 International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam\; the courtyar
d installation of the US Pavilion at the 13th International Architecture
Exhibition of the Venice Biennale\; and West Market Redevelopment Plan fo
r the City of Newark. The office has received numerous grants and fellows
