SUMMARY:Pocket Change: A Story of Coins through Time
LOCATION:Lam Museum of Anthropology\, 1315 Carroll Weathers Dr. Winston-Sa
 lem\, NC 27109
DESCRIPTION:Coins like those in your pocket have helped shape empires for
thousands of years. This exhibit showcases more than six dozen coins\, fo
cusing on East Asia and the Mediterranean\, and spanning more than two mi
llennia. Each coin is both an artifact and a historical document\, allowi
ng numismatists (or coin collectors) to trace their evolution from raw me
tals to standardized modern currency. In this exhibit\, visitors will lea
rn how coins reveal the politics of long-gone states and how they circula
ted widely throughout the world\, providing information on trade networks
and ancient cities. Coins give a human connection to the past— mundane o
bjects that were touched by people like us\, thousands of years ago. Admi
 ssion is free.\n\nhttp://next-to-u.app/events/755f1027-a1d0-40ab-b505-1d3
