SUMMARY:💃 Digital You 🕺— Capture Your Movement\, Animate a Character & E
 xplore MoCap Careers
LOCATION:King Library Digital Humanities Center\, 150 E San Fernando St\,
 San Jose\, CA 95112
DESCRIPTION:Step Into the World of Motion Capture\n\nWhat if bringing a di
gital character to life was as simple as moving your own body?\nIn Digita
l You\, you’ll get hands-on with motion capture (MoCap) and discover how
real human movement can be transformed into digital animation. Using just
a laptop and webcam\, you’ll capture your own movements and use them to
make a digital avatar walk\, dance\, and move like you—no animation or te
chnical experience required.\n\nAlong the way\, you’ll learn how motion c
apture works and see how the same technology is being used across video g
 ames\, film\, animation\, virtual production\, sports\, research\, and im
mersive experiences. We’ll also explore some of the creative and technica
l careers behind these experiences\, from animators and game developers t
 o 3D artists\, performers\, technical artists\, and virtual production te
ams.\nBy the end of the workshop\, you’ll have created your own short cha
racter animation and gained a better understanding of how movement travel
s from the physical world to the digital one.\n\nWhat is the KLEVR Lab?\n
\nLocated in the Dr. Martin Luther King\, Jr. Library at San José State U
niversity\, the KLEVR Lab gives students opportunities to explore emergin
g technologies and experiment with new forms of digital creativity and le
arning. We are available as a resource to learn how to get support on how
to create VR/AR/MoCap projects\, short term rentals of VR and computing
equipment\, and as a place to hang out.\n\nhttp://next-to-u.app/events/7f
