SUMMARY:From organizational behavior theory to workplace solutions: An aut
hentic learning project that builds workforce readiness
LOCATION:313 Templeton
DESCRIPTION:Poster Presentation\n\nPresenters: Cynthia Halliday\, Associat
 e Professor of Management\, Marketing\, Management\, and Supply Chain\n\n
This poster presentation showcases an authentic learning project implemen
ted in a graduate management course where student teams analyze real orga
nizations and diagnose workplace challenges through the application of or
ganizational behavior concepts. Students examine issues including ineffec
tive communication\, low employee morale\, employee turnover\, poor colla
boration\, and workplace stress\, then develop evidence-based recommendat
ions supported by research. They present their findings in a professional
executive summary report and a management style presentation.\n\nThe pro
ject addresses a persistent challenge in management education by helping
students move beyond memorizing theories and toward applying concepts in
realistic organizational settings. While many students can explain organi
zational behavior principles\, they often struggle to diagnose complex wo
rkplace problems and propose actionable solutions. This assignment bridge
s that gap through research\, critical analysis\, professional communicat
ion\, teamwork\, and problem-solving activities that mirror consulting an
d managerial practice. It also aligns with the UTEP Edge framework by str
 engthening communication\, confidence\, critical thinking.\n\nhttp://next
