SUMMARY:11th Annual Ann Rankin Cowan Lecture
LOCATION:Sonja Haynes Center Theatre
DESCRIPTION:TALK TITLE: Accelerating Progress in Eating Disorders Preventi
on: A Call for Policy Translation Research and Training\n\nThe societal b
urden of eating disorders and the need for prevention are clear and compe
lling. Progress in prevention\, however\, has been slow\, in part because
of the overwhelming focus on interventions targeted at individual-level
behavior change and the underwhelming contributions from professionals ou
tside of the clinical disciplines. Progress in the field can be accelerat
ed\, but only through a realignment of our priorities\, which we must shi
ft in two critical ways to build: 1) Translational research designed to i
nform policy and environmental changes with high potential for large-scal
e impact\; and 2) Training initiatives that increase disciplinary and pra
ctice expertise to inform policy translation action\, including the disci
plines of public health\, economics\, health law\, and more in addition t
o psychology. By prioritizing policy translational research and training\
, we can substantially accelerate the pace of progress in eating disorder
 s prevention.\n\nhttp://next-to-u.app/events/846cc44a-7f95-4ac1-ad77-d1d9
