 ral Nerves Affected by Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy\n\nDiabetic periphe
 ral neuropathy (DPN) is a common complication of diabetes characterized b
 y a length-dependent axonopathy that causes pain\, weakness\, and sensory
  loss. Despite its high prevalence\, the molecular mechanisms driving axo
 nal degeneration in DPN are not fully understood. To better define the mo
 lecular changes associated with DPN\, we performed proteomic characteriza
 tion of human sural nerve tissue. Our proteomic characterization study re
 vealed alterations in essential structural proteins that may compromise t
 he capacity of the sural nerve to maintain axonal integrity and regenerat
