DESCRIPTION:Philosophical painting discussion exploring art\, light\, natu
 re\, and experience through MOCA works.\n\nWhat’s in a Painting? is a lec
 ture and discussion-based course that approaches painting through a philo
 sophical lens. In this two-hour\, single-session class\, participants exa
 mine contemporary works from MOCA Jacksonville’s permanent collection\, p
 aintings featured in MOCA Jacksonville’s The Armory South exhibition\, an
 d selected works spanning landscape\, portraiture\, still life\, and abst
 raction. The course considers how to better understand paint through topi
 cs including light\, nature\, character\, and experience.\n\nDesigned for
  art enthusiasts and painters of all skill levels\, the course offers par
 ticipants an opportunity to develop insights for art appreciation\, explo
 re strategies for communicating through visual media\, and learn about di
 fferent approaches to painting throughout recent history. The class is op
