DESCRIPTION:How could ethnographic fieldwork training center the fact that
  researchers’ lives\, in their full complexity\, shape knowledge producti
 on? Neoliberal labor conditions\, work-life balance\, caring responsibili
 ties\, and recently Covid-19 have demanded a rethinking of fieldwork as a
  process that entails spending a year or longer in a faraway place. Many 
 ethnographers have devised strategies to fit their fieldwork around inter
 secting responsibilities and constraints\, a way of doing research that w
 e call “patchwork ethnography.” This focus on the seamfulness of the labo
 r conditions of research reveals the entanglements between “home” and “fi
