SUMMARY:Seminar on Arithmetic Geometry\, etc. (STAGE)
LOCATION:Building 2 132\, 182 MEMORIAL DR\, Cambridge\, MA 02139
DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Aloysius Ng (MIT)\n\nTitle: Classical theta functions
 \n\nAbstract:\n\n§I.1\, §1.6-7 in Mumford's "Tata Lectures on Theta I"\n\
nFunctions on an elliptic curve are periodic in the complex plane with re
spect to a lattice. Theta functions are entire functions that are quasipe
riodic and are used to define periodic meromorphic functions. We discuss
properties of these theta functions\, which will be used in future talks
to discuss the elliptic gamma function.\n\nhttp://next-to-u.app/events/a3
