DESCRIPTION:The American Heart Association’s BLS course trains participant
 s to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies\, give high-
 quality chest compressions\, deliver appropriate breaths and ventilations
 \, and provide early use of an AED. The course reflects science and educa
 tion from the 2025 American Heart Association Guidelines for CPR and Emer
 gency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).\n\nWho should take this course?\nThe Ame
 rican Heart Association’s BLS Course is designed for healthcare professio
 nals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other ba
 sic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-hospital a
 nd out-of-hospital settings.\n\nWhat does this course teach?\n• High-qual
 ity CPR for adults\, children\, and infants\n• BLS concepts from the Chai
 n of Survival\n• Delivering effective breaths or ventilations\n• Importan
 ce of early use of and how to use an AED\n• Performance as an effective t
 eam member during multirescuer CPR\n• Relief of foreign-body airway obstr
 uction (choking) for adults\, children\, and infants\n\nInitial certifica
 tion and recertification of healthcare providers\nUpon successful complet
 ion of the course\, students receive an AHA BLS Provider course completio
 n card\, valid for two years.\n\nCost: $80 for the course\, plus $19 for 
 the optional manual. Payment by cash\, check\, credit card\, or 312 Requi
 sition is accepted. Medical students at the University of Rochester have 
 the course fee waived\, but are responsible for the cost of the manual.\n
