SUMMARY:Veterans Law Speaker Event
LOCATION:Room 299 UK Law School
DESCRIPTION:We will have a guest speaker\, Kirk Sripinyo (UK Law Professor
). The event will run 1 hour. We are providing outside food (most likely
Chick Fil A). I have pasted Professor Sripinyo's description of his prese
ntation below. This event will be open to all students\, with a special f
ocus on veterans\, for Veterans Day.\n\n"I think I’d like to present a ta
lk titled\, “Drafting Einstein: The Citizen-Soldier in the Age of Lethal
Autonomous Weapons and Artificial Intelligence.”\n\nThe talk would begin
with the development of commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) systems into FPV
drone warfare in Ukraine\, focusing on how that evolution has increased t
he value of technologically sophisticated frontline soldiers and complica
ted the traditional view of soldiers as primarily “trigger pullers.” From
there\, I’d explore how lethal autonomous weapons systems and AI may fur
ther shift military demand toward engineers\, scientists\, and other tech
nical specialists who can design\, adapt\, and operate these systems. Fin
ally\, it will examine what that shift might mean for our understanding o
 f who\, or what\, counts as a citizen-soldier."\n\nhttp://next-to-u.app/e
