SUMMARY:Taste of Africa
LOCATION:Ferst Center for Arts
DESCRIPTION:This year’s theme \, ”MAX”\, is a celebration of Afro-maximali
sm and unapologetic Blackness. This show seeks to encourage the belief th
at African and diasporic cultures are not meant to be shrunk \, muted or
simplified but instead\, embrace boldness in every form. We want to highl
ight the abundance\, creativity and power that comes when people feel pri
de in taking up space without compromise. “MAX” rejects suppression in fa
vor of fitting in\, honoring the many traditions\, innovations and identi
ties that make African culture a force to be reckoned with. Open to all s
