\, Poor Policy & Possible Antitrust Solutions
LOCATION:110 Forsyth St\, Boston\, MA 02115
DESCRIPTION:America’s Broken Health System:\nBad Markets\, Poor Policy and
Possible EconomicsSolutions\n\nProfessor Martin Gaynor\, Carnegie Mellon
University\n\nhosted by John Kwoka\, Neal F. Finnegan Distinguished Prof
essor of EconomicsEveryone knows that America’s health care system is tru
ly broken. Prof. Martin Gaynor has been at the forefront of economic anal
ysis of these issues and the policies necessary to address them. This tal
k will address why the US has the most expensive health care system in th
e world\, but not the best. Topics include the “integration myth” in heal
th care: why the belief that integrating aspects of health care improves
patient care and lowers costs isn’t correct\, and how that belief is harm
ing our health system. Prof. Gaynor will also address what health care co
mpetition and antitrust in health can and cannot do\, and what public pol
icies can give us a better health care system.\n\nhttp://next-to-u.app/ev
