SUMMARY:Data Bloom: Building Web Maps from Google Sheets
DESCRIPTION:Want to turn a simple spreadsheet into an interactive online m
ap? Join the URochester Libraries for a hands-on workshop on creating web
maps with Leaflet\, a free and open-source JavaScript mapping library. P
articipants will learn how to take location data stored in a Google Sheet
or other hosted CSV file and display it on an interactive map that can b
e shared on the web. Along the way\, we'll explore how to add map markers
\, organize data into layers\, customize symbols\, and create popups that
display information from your spreadsheet.\n\nNo previous web mapping or
programming experience is required. The workshop will introduce the basi
cs of HTML and JavaScript needed to work with Leaflet\, but the focus wil
l be on adapting and customizing existing code rather than learning to pr
ogram from scratch. By the end of the workshop\, participants will have a
working interactive map and a foundation for creating their own spreadsh
eet-driven mapping projects. All are welcome and questions are encouraged
.\n\nThis workshop is taught by Digital Scholarship and is part of the Da
ta Bloom Workshop Series\, run by the Data Services Team. Please visit ou
r webpage to learn about our other offerings.\n\nhttp://next-to-u.app/eve
