SUMMARY:Electronic Polymer Innovations Through AI-guided Robotic Laborator
 ies
LOCATION:Discovery Park Building B155\, 3940 N Elm St.\, Denton\, TX 76207
DESCRIPTION:Dr. Jie Xu\, Assistant Professor in the Pritzker School of Mol
ecular Engineering at the University of Chicago will present a seminar ti
tled "Electronic Polymer Innovations Through AI-guided Robotic Laboratori
es" to the interested faculty and students at Discovery Park.\n\nAbstract
 \n\nAutonomous laboratories that integrate high-throughput synthesis\, pr
ocessing\, and characterization with data-driven modeling offer a powerfu
l pathway to accelerate materials discovery and uncover complex structure
–processing–property relationships. We are developing Polybot\, an AI-gui
ded robotic laboratory designed to address the inherent complexity of pol
ymer systems\, in which subtle variations in composition and processing c
an produce substantial changes in morphology and performance. This talk w
ill highlight Polybot-enabled advances in the autonomous discovery of ele
ctronic polymers\, including the inverse design of copolymer optical prop
erties\, automated solution processing to control solid-state morphology
and electronic performance\, and the data-driven identification of morpho
logical design principles for optimizing mixed ionic–electronic transport
 . Building on these capabilities\, I will introduce PoLARIS\, a distribut
ed cloud laboratory that will connect synthesis\, processing\, characteri
zation\, and AI-guided decision-making across multiple facilities and mak
e advanced autonomous experimentation accessible to a broader research co
mmunity.\n\nBio\n\nProf. Jie Xu is an Assistant Professor at the Pritzke\
