SUMMARY:Designing AI-Enhanced Learning Experiences: From Prompting to Auth
 entic Assessment
LOCATION:102A Acacia
DESCRIPTION:50-minute Workshop\n\nPresenters: David J. Carrejo\, Associate
  Professor of STEM Education\, Teacher Education/STEM Division\n\nGenerat
ive artificial intelligence (AI) offers opportunities to enhance teaching
and learning\, but how can instructors use it to promote critical thinki
ng rather than simple content generation? This interactive workshop intro
duces a structured approach to AI-enhanced course design grounded in cons
tructive alignment\, authentic assessment\, and responsible AI practices.
Drawing on an undergraduate teacher preparation course redesign and an I
RB-approved Scholarship of Teaching and Learning study\, participants wil
l explore strategies for lesson planning\, assignment development\, forma
 tive assessment\, and reflection.\n\nThrough guided examples\, participan
ts will develop an AI-enhanced learning activity for their own courses\,
practice writing and revising prompts\, critically evaluate AI-generated
responses\, and design assessments requiring students to critique\, impro
ve\, and justify AI-generated work. Emphasizing AI as a support for reaso
ning rather than a source of answers\, the workshop provides adaptable te
mplates\, prompt guides\, assessment resources\, and an instructional fra
mework that participants can implement across disciplines.\n\nhttp://next
