SUMMARY:Cornell Center for Immunology Seminar-Ellen Rothenberg\, PhD
LOCATION:Atkinson Hall 121\, 350 Tower Road
DESCRIPTION:Flexing the T-cell specification gene regulatory network for f
etal versus postnatal T-cell development\n\nThe Rothenberg group studies
the molecular mechanisms that are responsible for developmental lineage c
hoice as hematopoietic stem cells differentiate into T lymphocytes. This
is a complex process in which stem-cell multipotentiality is lost in step
s that actually overlap with the initiation of T-cell specific differenti
ation events. Thus\, it offers unique insights into the nature of "stem-n
ess" and the distinction between activation of a development program and
irreversible commitment to that program. The approaches used in the lab a
re a combination of in vitro developmental biology\, high-resolution char
acterization of individual cell developmental states\, and molecular gene
tics of gene regulation. Lunch provided.\n\nhttp://next-to-u.app/events/e
