SUMMARY:E&RS Colloquium: Goda Palekaitė Screening and Discussion
LOCATION:Rosenfeld Hall\, 109-111 Grove Street\, New Haven\, CT 06511
DESCRIPTION:The European & Russian Studies Colloquium presents Dr. Goda Pa
lekaitė\, Joseph P. Kazickas Postdoctoral Associate\, Yale University for
a short film screening and discussion.\n\nGoda Palekaitė\nScreening and
 discussion\n\nI WRITE WHILE DISAPPEARING\n18 mins\, 2021\n\n"I Write Whil
e Disappearing" is based on found television interviews that helped artis
t and writer Goda Palekaitė to create a fictional discussion among fourte
en female writers and herself. French feminists find themselves in conver
 sation with a Brazilian mystic\, an Austrian dramatist\, a Soviet-Lithuan
ian romantic\, and a number of others\, in an intimate sharing of what it
means to be a woman and an artist. Meanwhile\, author's own voice pierce
s through: ‘If I steal does it mean that I write?' Originally the film wa
s installed on the furniture that Goda created specifically for its viewi
ng: a writer’s desk and a tongue-shaped chair. It has been since presente
d in various art and academic contexts internationally.\n\nCredits:\nWrit
ten and directed by Goda Palekaitė\nEdited by Rui Calvo\nMusic and sound
 design by Adomas Palekas\n\nhttp://next-to-u.app/events/e3be62bc-1dcf-446
