 essor of nursing and geriatric medicine\, and vice president of the Unive
 rsity of Rochester Medical Center who has dedicated her career to impactf
 ul research\, interdisciplinary collaboration\, and mentoring the next ge
 neration of healthcare leaders.\n\nA nationally recognized expert in pall
 iative care\, Kitko has led extensive clinical research on the needs of i
 ndividuals living with complex chronic conditions and their family caregi
 vers\, with a particular focus on advanced heart failure. As the principa
 l investigator of multiple groundbreaking studies\, she has driven innova
 tive approaches to understanding and addressing the challenges faced by p
 atients and families dealing with life-limiting illnesses. Her work has b
 een funded by the National Institutes of Health — including the National 
 Institute of Nursing Research and the National Heart\, Lung\, and Blood I
 nstitute — as well as the American Heart Association.\n\nKitko's contribu
 tions to nursing science and education have been widely recognized. A Jos
 iah S. Macy Jr. Faculty Scholar\, she developed an innovative interdiscip
 linary certificate program in primary palliative care. She is also a fell
 ow of the American Academy of Nursing and the American Heart Association 
 and has received numerous national and international accolades for her wo
