  & Dr. Cherise Smith
LOCATION:Art Building (ART) 1.102\, 2301 San Jacinto Blvd\, Austin TX 7871

DESCRIPTION:This program brings together two collaborative film projects\,
I SAW THE MARKS THEY MADE AND THE WIND WAS BLOWING (2025) and Terrebonne
(2026)\, by artists Adriana Corral and Janaye Brown. The program begins
with a screening of both films and will be followed by a conversation bet
ween Corral and Brown—moderated by Dr. Cherise Smith—discussing the conne
ction between their work and the works on view in AGBS’s current exhibiti
on\, Made in Texas.\n\nThe short films allow viewers to encounter landsca
pes that display marks of their histories\, both through means of nature
and human intervention. The artists offer the audience moments of contemp
lation through the vignettes\, soundscape\, and slow camera movements\, a
sking viewers to ruminate on both past and future\, and pushing for a rec
koning with the histories of these areas and our shared survival. In conv
ersation with each other\, I SAW THE MARKS THEY MADE AND THE WIND WAS BLO
WING (2025)\, Terrebonne (2026)\, and Made in Texas welcome audiences to
explore the narratives of the land around us – where we have been\, where
we are now\, and where we are going.\n\nhttp://next-to-u.app/events/ec78
