SUMMARY:Advancing Cancer Research and Therapeutics with The Miami Project
Drug Discovery Core: From Biological Discovery to Screening-Ready Program
 s
LOCATION:Sylvester Support Services Building 1st Floor Auditorium\, Room 1
 10\, 1430 NW 11th Ave.\, Miami\, FL 33136
DESCRIPTION:The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis (TMP) Drug Discovery Core
(DDC) at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine provides techn
ologies and expertise in assay development\, high-content screening\, cel
lular target engagement\, and quantitative image analysis. The DDC can he
lp investigators translate their biological models and therapeutic hypoth
eses into robust assays\, screening strategies\, and actionable drug-disc
overy programs. This seminar will provide an overview of the DDC and disc
uss examples of how DDC capabilities have advanced and can further advanc
e translational cancer research at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Cen
ter (Sylvester). The seminar will also discuss the DDC’s role in connecti
ng Sylvester members and other University of Miami investigators with ext
ernal high-throughput screening resources and describe how the DDC facili
tates these projects by establishing screening readiness\, coordinating p
roject transfer\, and supporting hit confirmation and follow-up.\n\nSpeak
