A reflective talk on the 'trans-turn' in applied linguistics and Dr. Tian's personal and scholarly journey with translanguaging. Drawing on lived experiences and empirical research, he discusses work across bilingual, ESL, world language, and teacher education contexts, translingual writing, and generative Al. The talk concludes by considering translanguaging as methodology and invites emerging scholars to find the ideas that genuinely speak to them.
