About

Winner of the 2025 Walter & Sarah Knestrick Award, Benjamin Stratton DeVerter will reflect on his artistic development and share how the award has supported his transition from student to emerging professional. Following a month spent working in rural Texas last summer, this presentation will unpack the process of exploring masculinity and sense of place through large format photography. The four weeks of on-location portrait shoots, inspired by artists like Walker Evans and Rahim Fortune, grew out of rich photographic and regional histories. Presentation attendees can expect a relaxed, conversational introduction to the men of Medina, Texas through a selection of images and stories. Made possible through the Walter and Sarah Knestrick Award, the resulting body of work will be partially shown in the presentation and visible in full from November 16th to December 6th in The WAG at The Packing Plant.
