About
Come join Kana Sahashi, Coordinator for the Japan Outreach Initiative, in exploring your artistic potential with Japanese calligraphy. A quick demonstration and explanation will be followed up with your own turn to make a character on paper to take home. Celebrate the season with an autumn theme character like "crimson" 紅 or "leaves" 葉, or perhaps you will resolve to lock in for final exams by writing "perseverance" 努 or "victory" 勝. Perhaps you will want to use calligraphy like the samurai of old used to, as a form of meditation and mindfulness, writing "mind" 心.
Whatever you choose to write, you'll be sure to have something to commemorate the season, and you'll get to meet up with others interested in learning and experiencing art in the process!
Writing takes place in the Fisher Union Town Square just outside the Asian Heritage Cultural Center. Spaces are limited, so please RSVP here!
