Description:

“Falling into your future” is a career development program in collaboration with the Career Center and Writing Center. This program aims to provide residents with the resources and guidance needed to evaluate their application materials and make informed decisions about future employment, internships, and graduate school opportunities. Residents will be welcomed by Community Advisors, who will scan IDs and then direct them to speak with either the Career Center or the Writing Center. They will receive personalized assistance with their resumes, cover letters, or graduate school statements. After their productive conversations, they will be able to grab a plate of chicken and fries, provided by Canes. Residents will then be able to sit down and finish their food, while continuing to receive assistance. They will be able to walk away with valuable feedback on their applications and have better confidence and understanding in making decisions that support their goals.

Learning Goals:

Residents will evaluate their resumes, cover letters, or graduate school personal statements to identify strengths and areas for improvement.

Residents will analyze feedback from the Career Center and Writing Center to determine how to strengthen their application materials for specific opportunities.

Residents will apply critical thinking skills to assess their qualifications, experiences, and future goals when making informed decisions about employment, internships, or graduate school opportunities.
