Title: Computational and Hydrodynamic Analysis of an Intergrated Tidal Desalination System
Abstract Summary:
This talk presents an integrated tidal desalination (ITD) system that couples a tidal turbine with a centrifugal reverse osmosis (CRO) module to produce freshwater using renewable energy, offering a potentially lower-energy alternative to conventional reverse osmosis. Dr. Daskiran will share CFD simulations of the external flow examining hydrodynamic interactions between the turbine and the CRO module, followed by an analysis of the internal CRO flow—including Ekman layer formation and salt concentration profiles—to reveal the system’s coupled hydrodynamic and mass transport processes.
