About
A fresh coat of red paint can make a big difference. Join the City of San Luis Obispo to improve visibility at intersections and help protect kids walking and biking to school.
Who: Community members ages 16+; great for families, clubs, teams, and groups looking to make a local impact.
What: Team up with City staff and Volunteer Leaders to paint curbs red near intersections as part of a traffic safety measure called daylighting, which improves visibility between drivers and people crossing the street.
When: The next volunteer day is Saturday, November 7, from 8 AM to 2 PM (breaks and lunch included!).
Where: All service sites will be within city limits. Registered volunteers will receive a confirmation email a few days in advance with additional details including the meeting location and scope of project site.
Additional Information:
All supplies, orientation, and on-site support are provided.
Volunteers must be able to follow directions, bend or kneel while painting low curbs, and self-advocate for breaks.
City-provided high-visibility vests must be worn and all volunteers must complete a waiver (part of the registration process of Engage SLO).
