Tasks vary by build site and may include framing, siding, finishing, and cleanup. No tools or experience are necessary. Habitat supervisors will train everyone on the day’s tasks. Volunteers may be required to climb ladders and safely use power tools.

Volunteer Details

• Volunteers needed: 10-15

• Age: Volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Volunteers 16–18 will have restricted use of tools and equipment.

• Dress code: Closed-toe shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. This is an active construction site.

• Provided: Personal protective equipment (PPE), including hardhats, glasses, earplugs, and gloves; tools; skilled staff to train you; and a safe build site.

• What to bring: A reusable water bottle. There will be a lunch break, usually around noon. Lunch will be provided by UNO Student Chapter of Habitat for Humanity, but feel free bring your own.

• Task updates: The main task for your build site will be listed in the “Additional Event Details” section at least two days before your volunteer date.

• Parking: Park legally on the street near the home where you are volunteering. Avoid driveways and fire hydrants. Carpool if possible. If volunteering at a warehouse, park in any available parking stall.
