About
The Hayes School of Music will screen the highly anticipated documentary ZINZI on November 19th at 6pm in the Schaffel Recital Hall (Broyhill Music Center 129).
ZINZI invites viewers on a transformative journey to a remote village to meet the Ngqoko Women, guardians of amaXhosa culture—a rich and impactful heritage that nurtured global icons like Nelson Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu. As the last living practitioners of an ancient art form of overtone singing and fast disappearing traditional music indigenous to South Africa, these women reveal their personal histories and a fierce, collective desire to keep their music alive.
Join us for the screening and Q & A. No registration needed, just drop in!
