The Role of Olfactory-Lateral Entorhinal Cortex Circuits in Social Memory
Social memory is vital for all social species as it helps facilitate the reinforcement of positive social interactions and the avoidance of negative social interactions, a process that requires a myriad of sensory inputs to be effective. The lateral entorhinal cortex has been shown to be involved in both associative and social memory, and receives inputs from the olfactory bulbs. However, there has yet to be an established OFB-LEC circuit implicated in social memory. This study aims to explore possible olfactory-LEC circuits that are relevant to social memory and social behavior in mice.
