From linguistics to grant writing, all disciplines value and utilize words in particular ways to achieve industry-specific goals. What can insider perspectives reveal about how they use language to achieve success in their fields?
In the style of Jubilee’s hit YouTube series Spectrum — where speakers physically move along a continuum to respond to a statement — NYU professors will discuss where such valued language intersects and diverges among their professions. CAVA dinner will be provided for all participants.
The speakers and their focuses for the symposium are currently as follows: - Prof. Sarah Beck: STEINHARDT · Pedagogy - Prof. Shondel Nero: STEINHARDT · TESOL, Linguistics - Prof. Annelise Finegan: SPS · Translation, Theatre, Publishing - Prof. David Ellis: CAS · Expository, Grant Writing - Prof. Jared Watson: STERN · Marketing
