About
Residents will participate in "Mugsgiving" in the North Commons 2nd Floor Lounge, a Thanksgiving-themed program designed to encourage teamwork, collaboration, and community building. During the event, residents will have the opportunity to decorate their own mugs while socializing with their peers and expressing their creativity. Additionally, residents will participate in a Thanksgiving-themed Kahoot competition focused on Thanksgiving history, traditions, and fun facts. Residents will be divided into teams based on their rooms and will work together to answer trivia questions, discuss possible answers, and make decisions as a group. The room with the highest score at the end of the competition will win a prize for the entire room, encouraging residents to collaborate and work toward a shared goal. A major focus of the program will be promoting collaborative leadership by encouraging residents to communicate effectively, listen to one another, and recognize the importance of each team member's contributions. Through friendly competition, residents will practice teamwork and shared decision-making while strengthening relationships with their roommates and building a greater sense of community within North Commons. • Residents will be able to demonstrate teamwork and collaboration by working with their roommates to answer Thanksgiving-themed trivia questions and compete toward a shared goal. • Residents will be able to practice effective communication, active listening, and shared decision-making by discussing answers and considering their teammates' perspectives during the Kahoot competition. • Residents will be able to recognize the importance of individual contributions and collective effort in achieving a common goal, as the winning team will receive a shared prize for their entire room.
This program supports the Collaborative Leadership learning domain by encouraging residents to work together as a team to achieve a common goal. By competing in the Thanksgiving-themed Kahoot in teams based on their rooms, residents will practice essential leadership skills such as communication, cooperation, active listening, and shared decision-making. Rather than competing individually, residents will rely on one another's knowledge and contributions to succeed, emphasizing the importance of teamwork and collective responsibility. Additionally, awarding a prize to the entire winning room will reinforce the idea that success can be achieved through collaboration and that each individual's participation contributes to the accomplishments of the group.
