About
Dashain is one of the biggest and most important festivals in Nepal. It is celebrated for about 15 days and symbolizes the victory of good over evil. During Dashain, families gather together, receive blessings and tika from elders, wear new clothes, eat delicious food, and visit relatives. People also worship Goddess Durga and enjoy flying kites and
playing traditional games.
Tihar, also known as the festival of lights, is another major Nepali festival celebrated for five days. Each day has a special meaning, with people worshipping crows, dogs, cows, and Goddess Laxmi. Homes are decorated with colorful lights, oil lamps, candles, and rangoli. People sing Deusi-Bhailo, exchange gifts, and enjoy sweets with family and friends. Both Dashain and Tihar bring people together and represent happiness, family, and cultural traditions.
