About
Register to join the Office of Public Policy Events on Thursday, November 5, at 1:30 p.m. for The 2026 War with Iran and the Future of U.S. Grand Strategy, a debate featuring Dr. Daniel Strand and Dr. Jacob Shively.
Centered on the resolution, The 2026 war with Iran represents a necessary and positive new direction in U.S. grand strategy, the discussion will explore the conflict’s implications for American foreign policy and the future of U.S. engagement abroad. Strand and Shively will offer competing perspectives on whether the war represents a necessary evolution in American grand strategy or a departure from longstanding approaches to U.S. power and international relations.
The debate will also examine broader questions surrounding American internationalism, national sovereignty, military intervention, and the United States’ role in world affairs. Following opening arguments and responses from both speakers, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in an audience Q&A.
All are welcome to attend, but seats are limited.
