About
Dr. Rene Henery and Lawrence LaBianca are currently Artists-in-Residence for the Art+Science Collaboration Project culminating in an exhibit in the Tahoe Gallery at UNR at Lake Tahoe campus opening on November 13. On Friday November 6, they will present a two-person keynote talk about their work and collaboration for the annual conference of Nevada Visual Arts Education Association of K-12 Art Educators from across the state of Nevada hosted this year by the Department of Art, Art History & Design at UNR. Work from each of these artists is also currently included in the exhibition Without Mountains and Rivers Without End in Sheppard Contemporary gallery on campus through December 4. This event is free and open to the public. There will be a light exhibition reception in Sheppard Contemporary 7-8pm.
Dr. Rene Henery is a Deep Ecologist, artist, writer and speaker based in Northern California. His transformational work embraces water and reconciliation as pathways to resilient ecosystems, coherent communities, and a personal experience of belonging.
Lawrence LaBianca is an artist based in San Francisco. His sculpture derives from the natural world, as expressed through his use of materials—wood, glass, leather, iron, and water, and the invention of his subject matter, which includes re-constructed trees, iconic ‘tools’ that signal use in the wilderness, and carefully preserved found artifacts that speak of the natural world. His assemblages enable viewers to ‘read,’ study, and even hear nature being crafted by (one) man.
