Coming up: Camera Trap Data Processing Workshop
Hi yall, we have some exciting news! We'll be kicking off our Camera Trapping Project series of events this Sunday. If you're interested in seeing cool animals on footage gathered by students and learning how to analyze data in a professional setting, this is the workshop for you.
Place: COB2 110 Date: November 8, Sunday Time: 12pm - 4pm
Last spring, we set out camera traps to record for two weeks in the land of Merced County Co. Unit 9, a patch of protected vernal pool habitat just west of campus. Our first Camera Trap Data Processing workshop will consist of processing this data, and it will serve as an introductory workshop for the rest of our camera trapping activities this semester. Students will learn how to manage, filter, and identify videos and photos from camera traps. This data will be submitted to the county of Merced to help track and protect our wildlife out in the grasslands and vernal pool habitat of Unit 9!
This is a great way to get your foot in the door with field research and gain experience with real life camera trap processes. This will be a professional-grade event that you can put on your resume, but you are required to attend the full event if you wish to do so. Please bring your laptop and your Catcard/student ID.
We hope to see you there!
