Magic City Smash: Smash Bros. Ultimate Tourney

About

Smash Club x Blazer Esports at UAB hosts weekly Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournaments on-campus. The event is double elimination. Entry is free, and students are encouraged to participate in the main bracket, spectate, or play in friendlies with other students at the event.

Participants are highly encouraged to bring their own setups (Nintendo Switch/Switch 2, controller, and monitor). It is not a requirement, but access to more setups allows tournaments to be more streamlined and allows for more setups for friendly matches outside of the tournament bracket.

Magic City Smash occurs every Tuesday. Doors open at 6:00pm, and the event will formally start at 7:00pm. Events with attendance >15 will allow eligibility for results to be ranked across Smash Ultimate players in the state of Alabama.

Players must sign up for the event at Start.gg (link attached). Event signup is generally posted 24 hours before tournament start date. For direct notification when signups are posted, join the Blazer Esports Discord or the Birmingham Smash Ultimate Discord. Event location may change; please see Start.gg or attached Discords for relevant location.

Participation in Magic City Smash is unaffiliated with the Blazer Esports competitive team; participants are not obligated to compete within Blazer Esports. This event exists to be a celebration of grassroots gaming culture alongside a facilitator for competitive Smash Ultimate in Birmingham. UAB students alongside residents of the Greater Birmingham area are invited to attend.
