About

Enjoy the wonder of the night sky and join us for a talk on Indigenous Star knowledge.

This event features CU Boulder student, Raven Mercer and undergraduate studying astrophysics and a member of the Quapaw Nation. Raven will discuss the Quapaw's separation from the larger Dhegiha group and how we became known as the “Downstream People,” and share some of their traditional associations and interpretations of the stars and constellations.

The evening will conclude with a special presentation by Mr. Ravis Henry, a member of the Diné/Navajo Tribe for an evening of storytelling and observations of the night sky. Ravis will share Navajo winter stories of creation and the stars, along with the Navajo perspective of various constellations.

Doors open at 5 p.m. Presentation will take place from 5:30 - 7 p.m.

All students are welcome
